According to CNBC, TerraFirma said it raised $115 million in a funding round backed by Kleiner Perkins, Bain Capital Ventures, and defense tech companies SpaceX, Anduril and Hadrian. The Austin-based construction startup, founded by former SpaceX engineers Noah Schochet and Noah McGuinness, uses interfaces including Xbox controllers to remotely operate heavy equipment and said its tools cut costs and improve safety. TerraFirma said it plans to use the funding to hire 300 employees over the next year and build a Texas factory and a mission control center, while keeping a long-term goal of eventually supporting construction on Mars.
