According to Lianhe Zaobao citing AFP, Russia said on July 14 it is considering “alternative routes” and may restrict vessel traffic in the Sea of Azov as Ukrainian attacks intensify. Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture said it is working with relevant agencies and businesses to develop alternate transport routes, while stressing exports will continue and that the situation will not affect domestic food supplies or Russia’s export capacity, adding logistics routes would be adjusted if needed. Russia’s Ministry of Transport said it is taking all necessary measures to keep freight logistics running smoothly and that some cargo could be shifted to other transport methods if required. Ukraine’s drone forces commander said Ukraine hit 116 vessels over the past nine days, including several tankers and cargo ships in the Sea of Azov, aiming to target Russia’s “shadow fleet” and limit gasoline supplies to Moscow-controlled Crimea.
