SK Hynix Begins Procuring Advanced DRAM Equipment for Yongin Y1 Wafer Fab

SK Hynix has started procuring advanced DRAM manufacturing equipment for its Y1 wafer fab in Yongin, South Korea, with an initial planned capacity of about 20,000 wafers per month.

According to Odaily, SK Hynix plans to move up the start date for Y1 Phase 1 from May next year to February next year.

The company plans to begin building a pilot production line in February next year, followed by large-scale equipment installation from March to April.

The fab is targeting production of sixth-generation 10-nanometer-class 1c DRAM, which is intended for AI server-related DDR and LPDDR products and is planned for use in next-generation HBM4E.
