White House chief cryptocurrency adviser Patrick Witt will begin a months-long leave later this month to attend JAG program training with the Georgia Army National Guard. According to Odaily, Witt had planned to join the program in April but postponed it due to extended negotiations over the Clarity Act and cannot delay it again.
Since taking the role in August last year, Witt has led talks with lawmakers and industry stakeholders on key disputes in the legislation. His work included facilitating a compromise between the crypto industry and banks on stablecoin yields, addressing disagreements over ethics provisions, and seeking support from law enforcement organizations.
Deputy adviser Harry Jung will assume Witt’s responsibilities during the leave.
