According to CNBC, a group of state attorneys general is expected to file a lawsuit as soon as Monday challenging Paramount Skydance’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. The suit, expected to include California Attorney General Rob Bonta, would seek to block the merger on antitrust grounds; Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders approved the deal in April, and Paramount CEO David Ellison has said it remains on track to close by September. The U.S. Department of Justice cleared the transaction in mid-June, while the European Union is still reviewing it with a provisional deadline of July 22; the European Commission said Paramount has submitted concessions.
