The U.S. dollar could weaken if data released on Tuesday show that U.S. core inflation pressures in June remained moderate, Mitsubishi UFJ analyst Lee Hardman said in a report.
According to Jin10, Hardman said markets will closely watch second-round effects on core inflation from rising energy prices. He added that since the outbreak of the U.S.-Iran conflict, the core inflation rate has risen only slightly.
Hardman said that if core inflation data remain moderate again and energy inflation eases, market participants are likely to lower expectations for further Federal Reserve rate hikes, which could restrain the dollar from strengthening over the coming week.
