Mufti Taqi Usmani and Scholars Rule Crypto Purchases Not Permitted Under Islamic Law

Six scholars signed a ruling stating that purchases made with cryptocurrency are not permitted under Islamic law, including the use of digital tokens and stablecoins such as Tether (USDT).

According to NS3.AI, PVARA chairman Bilal bin Saqib met Mufti Taqi Usmani and called for both technical and Shariah reviews of different categories of cryptocurrency.

The report said the ruling covers digital tokens and stablecoins, and the meeting focused on assessing how various crypto categories align with Islamic legal principles.
