Senegal have sacked manager Pape Thiaw after the team exited at the last-32 stage of the 2026 World Cup, according to Yahoo Sports. Senegal lost their first two group games to France and Norway, then beat Iraq 5-0 to reach the knockout rounds as one of the best third-placed teams before losing 3-2 to Belgium after extra time despite leading 2-0.
The Senegal Football Federation said it dismissed Thiaw after an evaluation of results and the national team’s prospects. Midfielder Pape Gueye said he would be “taking a break” from playing for Senegal while the current management remained in charge.
