Next-generation HBM4 prices may rise in the second half of 2026, potentially increasing from $2 per kilobit to $4–$5 or higher, DigiTimes reported, citing surging AI demand and structural capacity bottlenecks.
According to Odaily, the report attributed the potential price increase to the complexity of HBM4 manufacturing, including a production cycle of four to six months and significantly low initial yields.
It also said HBM production consumes about three times the wafer capacity of standard DDR5 DRAM, limiting the total amount of memory manufacturers can produce within existing facilities.
