According to Lianhe Zaobao citing Reuters, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on July 11 that investigators have identified the officials who allowed a weapons warehouse to operate in a residential area outside Kyiv and that they will be held accountable, after an explosion there killed 10 people. Zelenskiy said Ukraine’s Security Service determined which officials inside Ukraine’s defense industry company authorized use of the depot in Vyshneve, calling it a direct violation of the law and decisions by the supreme command. He did not name the individuals but said the heads of two state-owned enterprises violated the law and military decisions, and that other officials who may have been involved in the decision would also be investigated. Reuters reported that Russia carried out an airstrike this week on the small town of Vyshneve west of Kyiv, hitting the weapons warehouse and triggering a series of secondary explosions that damaged hundreds of homes.
