Crypto payments company MoonPay said it mistakenly posted on X that the internet-famous hippo MooDeng had died, attributing the error to a test of its “AI Intern V1.0” program.
According to Odaily, MoonPay said the test produced a failed outcome and that the project still requires further optimization.
MoonPay said it has paused related testing and sent the system back for repairs. The company confirmed MooDeng is in good condition, describing the hippo as still “chubby,” happy, and healthy.
MoonPay apologized for the misinformation and any market concerns it may have caused, and said the incident showed its AI agent project still has issues to address before any formal launch. The company said the related post has been deleted.
