A single-chip Bitaxe ASIC miner reportedly mined Bitcoin block 957,382 and received the full block reward of 3.1382 BTC. According to ChainCatcher, the device had about 1 TH/s of hashrate and was the only machine associated with the mining address.
The miner was operating via a public mining pool with a 0% fee, allowing the owner to keep 100% of the block reward and transaction fees.
The report said the block’s mining difficulty was 294.14T, more than 2.2 times the required difficulty of 133.87T. At a hashrate of 1 TH/s, the average probability of finding a block was described as roughly a once-in-16,000-years event, making the outcome highly unusual.
