Oman has drafted a proposal to manage shipping through the Strait of Hormuz using two separately administered lanes, CNN reported, citing a source familiar with the talks.

According to Jin10, the draft agreement has not been finalized and would keep both lanes open. The southern lane would lie within Omani territorial waters, allowing vessels to pass freely under a pre-war model. The northern lane would lie within Iranian territorial waters, and transiting vessels would need prior approval from Iran, but the agreement would not impose transit fees.

On Saturday local time, Iran's foreign minister met Oman’s foreign minister in Muscat, where they discussed mechanisms to ensure the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
