The Ethereum Foundation said coordinated AI agents found a remotely triggerable crash bug in gossipsub that could shut down node software and take a validator offline until restarted. According to CoinDesk, the issue was fixed and disclosed as CVE-2026-34219, but the Protocol Security team said human review was needed to separate real vulnerabilities from confident AI false positives, including test-build-only crashes, unreachable attack paths, and uninformative formal-verification results.
