OpenAI’s head of safety systems, Johannes Heidecke, has told his team this week that he will leave the company.
According to Jin10, the departure comes as OpenAI restructures with the core goal of merging its safety division with its research division.
An internal memo said OpenAI Chief Research Officer Mark Chen stated that the safety team will move under Research Vice President and integration lead Mia Glaese. The memo said Glaese will also serve as Vice President of Research and Safety.
The memo added that Saachi Jain, the former head of the safety team, will become interim head of safety systems and will report to Glaese.
