According to Axios, President Trump said he will not sign a bipartisan housing bill approved by Congress, citing Senate Republicans’ failure to pass the unrelated SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote and a photo ID to cast a ballot. Axios reported the housing package, passed in late June to address housing affordability and limit large investors buying single-family homes, cleared the House 358-32 and the Senate 85-5 and is set to become law at midnight even without Trump’s signature; House Speaker Mike Johnson sent the bill to Trump on June 29, starting a 10-day window for him to sign, veto, or let it become law without signing.
