Nick Tomaino Says Tokenized Real-World Assets Will Drive Crypto’s Next Growth Phase

1confirmation founder Nick Tomaino said tokenizing real-world assets (RWA) on-chain will be a key direction for the next stage of the crypto industry and could bring large-scale consumer adoption. According to Odaily, he wrote on X that the core value of on-chain RWA is enabling global users to access asset classes that were previously difficult to obtain.

Tomaino said “global accessibility” has been one of crypto’s most attractive features and a major reason crypto assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum have succeeded.

He added that crypto assets that create new behaviors and are built on ideas beyond purely monetary value will continue to exist long term. However, he said the market is increasingly recognizing that the cost of creating tokens is close to zero, making it difficult for price increases driven solely by token issuance to be sustainable.

Tomaino said growth cycles for many hype-driven tokens are ending, and the market will move into a new growth phase led by tokens backed by real assets. He said stablecoins are currently the most mature example of RWA applications.

He expects tokenization of assets such as stocks, commodities, government bonds, corporate bonds, and real estate to accelerate over the next year. He also said tokenized physical collectibles, including sports cards and jerseys, may be among the most worthwhile RWA areas to build and invest in at present.

Tomaino said that as speculation-driven token cycles fade, on-chain assets backed by real assets and tied to practical use cases will be key to attracting the next wave of users into the crypto market.
