Calbee said it will restore full-color printed packaging for some products sold in Japan after previously switching parts of its lineup to black-and-white designs due to supply instability in naphtha, a key feedstock for printing ink, according to Jiemian News. The company said the packaging change will start in the week of July 27, with products using the new packaging rolling out gradually.

Calbee had announced the black-and-white packaging shift in May amid Middle East tensions that disrupted naphtha supply. On July 10, customer service at Calbee’s official flagship store said it had not received notice of the change and advised consumers to refer to the packaging of items actually on sale; the store sells both domestically produced and imported versions.

Separately, Calbee reported full-year results for the fiscal year ended March 2026: net sales were 340.1 billion yen, up 5.5% year on year; operating profit was 26.2 billion yen, down 10.0%; and profit attributable to owners of the parent was 17.3 billion yen, down 17.0%. Calbee said it plans to raise prices on 75 products from October 2026 to offset higher raw material and logistics costs, and it forecast fiscal 2027 net sales of 370.0 billion yen, while warning Middle East developments could cut operating profit by about 3.0 billion yen.
