London-based AI writing startup Marker, co-founded by a former DeepMind creative lead, has raised $13 million in a seed funding round led by Index Ventures, with participation from Local Globe.
According to ChainCatcher, the round also included angel investments from Writely co-founder Steve Newman, Slack co-founder Cal Henderson, and Hugging Face’s Thomas Wolf.
Marker said early test users have used its platform to write a range of materials, including blog posts, Substack newsletters, business documents, memos, and novels.
Marker CEO Steinback said the company believes users will prefer writing tools that value writing craft over low-quality content.
