Bay Island Cell, a biotech company founded by former Legend Biotech founder and chief scientist Xiaohu Fan, has completed a RMB 140 million Series A financing round led by Shenzhen Capital Group (SCGC), with participation from Orient Fortune Capital, according to 36Kr.
The report said GenScript, Legend Biotech's parent company, previously sued Fan over alleged trade secret infringement, but China's Supreme People's Court rejected all of GenScript's claims in a final ruling in late 2025. 36Kr also reported that Fan presented early human data at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meeting for Bay Island Cell's non-gene-editing allogeneic CAR-T platform in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and the company has started a new fundraising round to support upcoming clinical trials.
