AI company Anthropic said on July 9 that it has appointed former US Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke to its Long-Term Benefit Trust, the body that oversees the company’s long-term mission to develop AI safely and responsibly and ensure the technology benefits society over the long run, according to Jiemian News. Anthropic said Bernanke will advise the company as it assesses AI’s impact on the economy, jobs and society, drawing on his experience in economics, financial-crisis research and macro policy. Bernanke served as Fed chair from 2006 to 2014 and won the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 2022.
