The U.S. Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reported that the federal budget deficit totaled about $1.4 trillion in the first nine months of fiscal 2026, up $35 billion from the same period a year earlier.
According to Odaily, the figures were published in the CBO’s “Monthly Budget Review” dated June 2026.
The report said federal revenue during the period was $4.2 trillion, an increase of $142 billion, or 4%.
Federal outlays totaled $5.5 trillion, rising by $178 billion, or 3%, compared with the same period of the prior fiscal year.
