Christian Pulisic sustained a fractured right leg during the United States’ 4-1 World Cup round-of-16 loss to Belgium, an injury expected to sideline him for several weeks, according to Yahoo Sports. An anonymous source said Pulisic suffered a bone bruise and a microfracture to both his tibia and fibula, while the U.S. Soccer Federation had not officially announced a diagnosis.
The injury occurred in the 52nd minute in Seattle when Pulisic collided with Belgium captain Youri Tielemans while attempting a shot; he was substituted in the 59th minute by Sebastian Berhalter. The report said Pulisic is anticipated to return to training before AC Milan’s Serie A season opener against Torino on August 23.
