Labour MPs plan to support amendments that would make the UK’s temporary ban on cryptocurrency political donations permanent, as the government’s political funding bill is due to return to the House of Commons on July 14.
According to NS3.AI, the proposed changes would lock in the current restriction on crypto donations rather than allowing it to remain a temporary measure.
The report said separate amendments are also being prepared that would reduce campaign spending limits and introduce additional checks aimed at identifying and mitigating foreign influence risks in political funding.
