South Korea’s KOSPI peaked at 7,539 on Thursday, July 9, up nearly 4% from Wednesday’s close of 7,246.79, moving back above the level that confirmed a bear market a day earlier. The rebound follows a 5.35% drop on Wednesday that left the index more than 20% below its June 22 record of 9,114.55, according to BeInCrypto, amid sharp swings in chipmaker stocks and concerns over leveraged single-stock ETFs that also triggered a sidecar trading halt. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix led the prior session’s losses; Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol said he will closely watch ETF-related volatility risks.
