Appeals court rejects Trump bid to restore his name to Kennedy Center

According to CNBC, a federal appeals court on Wednesday denied President Donald Trump’s request to pause a lower-court order that removed his name from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in June, saying Trump and the Kennedy Center board failed to show irreparable harm or provide specific evidence that fundraising would be damaged. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit also rejected arguments tied to a new entity called “The Trump Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Foundation,” noting the contention was not raised in district court. The ruling keeps Trump’s name off the Kennedy Center while the same appeals court considers his appeal of a May 29 order by U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, who said only Congress can change the center’s name. The board added Trump’s name in December after he removed several trustees, appointed himself as a trustee, and became board chair; Rep. Joyce Beatty later sued to have the name removed.
