Michael Saylor said the Bitcoin network has not developed a “spam” transaction problem despite a decade of debate over limited block space and non-monetary uses of the network. According to Odaily, Saylor wrote on X that Bitcoin network fees are currently about 1 sat/vB, and users can transfer any amount of BTC globally.
Saylor added that Bitcoin’s historical block space challenges have ultimately been addressed through market mechanisms, saying the free market has consistently resolved Bitcoin’s block space issues.
Odaily reported that Saylor’s comments responded to earlier controversy over Ordinals, inscriptions, and other on-chain non-financial applications using block space and contributing to higher fees. He said supply-and-demand dynamics can adjust how block space is used and support the network’s continued operation.
Saylor, a long-time supporter of Bitcoin as a global store of value and settlement network, also said the current low-fee environment indicates a balance between network capacity and demand.
