According to CNBC, Cox Automotive said demand for used all-electric vehicles has surged amid the Iran war and high U.S. gas prices, pushing prices higher. Cox reported its Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index for EVs rose 12% last month versus June 2025, compared with a 1.7% increase for non-EVs. Manheim said wholesale EV prices have risen every month this year, lifting average pricing 11.5% to about $30,400, while non-EVs are up less than 1% this year to $19,125. Cox’s Kelley Blue Book put the average used EV listing price as of May at $37,083, and Cox said used EV sales to consumers reached 42,923 units in May, up 5.5% month over month and 24.7% year over year, with market share at 2.8%; Tesla models were estimated to lead with 15,353 units sold. AAA said the national average gas price is about $3.80 a gallon, up roughly 21% from a year ago, while oil prices jumped Wednesday as combat in Iran escalated.
