According to CNBC, Waymo said Wednesday it will begin rolling out its fully autonomous vehicles in San Diego, Las Vegas, Tampa, Florida, and Denver in the coming weeks, initially offering rides to Alphabet employees before expanding to the public. CNBC reported that Waymo currently operates driverless cars in more than 10 cities and that U.S. auto safety regulator filings show its domestic fleet had about 4,000 robotaxis as of May, equipped with its fifth- and sixth-generation automated driving systems. The report said Waymo raised $16 billion in February from Alphabet and other backers and plans to begin service in London later this year after logging more than 20 million autonomous rides, while targeting 1 million weekly trips by the end of the year.
