According to Axios, One Nation, a conservative nonprofit aligned with Senate Majority Leader John Thune, is reserving $28 million in TV advertising in Ohio and $11 million in Iowa as Republicans ramp up spending to defend Senate seats they view as part of a “red wall.” The ads are set to begin Wednesday and run through the summer, Axios reported, citing plans it obtained. Axios also reported that during a June 1 call with Thune and top donors, One Nation executive director Alex Latcham cited roughly $100 million in planned spending targeting Democrat-held seats in New Hampshire, Georgia and Michigan, while urging more investment in GOP-held seats including Ohio, Iowa, Alaska, Maine and North Carolina. In Ohio, Axios said Republicans are concerned about Sen. Jon Husted’s race against former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown, who has outraised Husted by more than 2-to-1; One Nation is also reserving $6 million for New Hampshire, where Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is retiring and Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas is expected to face former Republican Sen. John Sununu. Axios reported that Thune’s political operation is planning more than $400 million in spending, largely through the Senate Leadership Fund super PAC.
