Maersk shares rose after U.S. President Donald Trump said that, as far as he was concerned, Iran’s ceasefire had ended.
According to Jin10, Trump made the remarks at a NATO summit in Ankara.
Container operators such as Maersk have benefited from rerouting ships to avoid conflict in the Middle East, which has reduced shipping capacity and pushed up freight rates.
The Danish shipping group raised its profit guidance last Friday after it noted that demand remained strong and freight rates continued to rise.
After Trump’s comments, Maersk shares were up as much as 4.3% at one point. Germany’s shipping group Hapag-Lloyd rose 1.5%.
