Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said on social media on July 8 that air-defense sirens had been activated and urged residents to remain calm and go to the nearest safe location; it had issued an earlier air-raid alert the same day, according to Jiemian News. Separately, the public relations department of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a July 8 statement that it had “destroyed” 85 key U.S. military facilities in the Middle East, including the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
