Ruben Vargas converted his penalty as Switzerland advanced to the World Cup quarterfinals with a 4-3 shootout win over Colombia after a scoreless draw on Tuesday, according to Yahoo Sports. Davinson Sanchez hit the crossbar with his attempt for Colombia, and Switzerland goalkeeper Gregor Kobel saved a penalty by Cucho Hernandez.

Switzerland will next face defending champion Argentina on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, after Argentina defeated Egypt 3-2 earlier in the day. Switzerland were without injured midfielder Johan Manzambi, who was hurt in training on Monday, while Vargas came off the bench in stoppage time at the end of regulation.
