The U.S. Dollar Index, which tracks the dollar against six major currencies, rose 0.17% on July 8 to close at 101.023 by the end of the New York trading session.
According to ChainCatcher, citing a Jin10 report, the euro fell to $1.1419 from $1.1443 in the previous session, while the British pound slipped to $1.3363 from $1.3395.
The dollar weakened against the Japanese yen to 161.94 from 162.06, but strengthened versus the Swiss franc to 0.8076 from 0.805.
Against the Canadian dollar, the greenback edged down to 1.4195 from 1.4209. The dollar also rose against the Swedish krona to 9.6784 from 9.6255.
