A Boeing 737 cargo aircraft operated by Pakistan’s K2Airways went missing during a freight flight from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates to Karachi, Pakistan.
According to Jin10, Pakistan’s Airports Security Force said in a notice issued on the evening of July 7 local time that the aircraft lost contact about 155 nautical miles (about 287 kilometers) west of Karachi.
The notice said that at 21:18 local time on July 7, the aircraft reported a navigation system malfunction and requested guidance assistance from the Karachi Area Control Center. At 21:21, radar showed the aircraft suddenly descending rapidly and making a sharp change in heading. The aircraft then went missing at about 155 nautical miles west of Karachi.
After the incident, Pakistan’s Search and Rescue Coordination Center immediately activated an emergency response and coordinated multiple departments to conduct a joint search-and-rescue operation in the relevant sea area to locate the missing aircraft.
The report said there were five crew members on board.
