The U.S. Energy Information Administration said gasoline prices were expected to keep declining. According to Jin10, the EIA said in its Short-Term Energy Outlook that it forecast average gasoline prices of $3.80 per gallon in the third quarter of 2026, down from more than $4.20 per gallon in the second quarter.
The EIA said it expected retail prices to fall to about $3.40 per gallon in the fourth quarter of 2026. It also forecast that the annual average retail gasoline price in 2027 would drop to below $3.10 per gallon.
