Uniswap Labs has published a temperature-check proposal to enable protocol fees in Uniswap v4 pools, using a fast-track governance process that would move directly to a five-day Snapshot vote followed by an on-chain vote. According to ChainCatcher, the Snapshot voting window is July 7 to 12, and the on-chain vote is set to begin the week of July 13.
The proposal introduces a V4 Fee Controller system to manage fee settings under v4’s Hook-based architecture. It includes two core contracts: V4FeePolicy, which calculates fees for any pool based on governance rules, and V4FeeAdapter, which applies governance overrides and routes collected fees to TokenJar. Fees would be determined in tiers by pool “family,” checking first for a governance-set rate for a specific trading pair, then a family default rate, and finally a global default rate.
The proposal would activate fees across 11 chains, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, and BNB Chain, for three pool families: static-fee pools without Hooks, CCA pools following continuous liquidation auctions, and aggregator Hook pools. For aggregator Hook pools, fees would be adjusted by a 25x multiplier, with defaults set at 10 bp on non-Base chains and 3 bp for stablecoin pairs; on Base, defaults would be 3 bp and 1 bp for stablecoin pairs.
All fees would flow into TokenJar on each chain. UNI slated for burning on L2 and alternative L1 networks would be bridged to the Ethereum mainnet and sent to the 0xdead address.
Because GovernorBravo limits each proposal to 10 operations, the plan calls for submitting two parallel on-chain votes to cover all chains.
