Apple’s first foldable-screen model is nearing its mass-production milestone, and its core component suppliers and contract manufacturing arrangements have largely been finalized.
According to Jin10, multiple supply-chain sources said the ultra-thin glass (UTG) flexible glass cover plate for the device will be supplied by Lens Technology (300433.SZ). People familiar with the matter said Lens Technology currently provides UTG, glass support plates, PET film, and 3D glass cover plates for most foldable-screen phones on the market, covering key parts of the transparent protective and support layers used in foldable displays.
Separately, sources said Foxconn will be responsible for final assembly of Apple’s first foldable-screen device. As production ramp-up begins, Foxconn has entered a full preparation phase for manufacturing.
To add labor for production lines, Foxconn is recruiting temporary workers, summer vacation workers, and hourly workers at 22 to 26 yuan per hour, with a work period running from July to October for a total of three months. The company is also recruiting full-time employees, offering a base salary of 2,600 yuan during the probation period and 2,950 yuan after confirmation. The report said that after adding overtime pay, performance pay, and night-shift allowances, total income is higher than that of ordinary production lines.
The report also said temporary workers can be hired without a medical examination and can start work immediately after recruitment.
