FIFA fined United States striker Folarin Balogun $40,000 in connection with his red card, and said his one-match suspension has been delayed by one year, according to Yahoo Sports. FIFA’s disciplinary committee said Balogun was investigated for two offenses: the red card he received against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32 and re-entering the field to celebrate with U.S. teammates despite his expulsion. FIFA said the U.S. Soccer Federation was declared jointly liable for paying the fine, and the team was informed of both the fine and the suspension on Sunday, hours before the U.S. Round of 16 match against Belgium.
