England said they are “considering all options” over an appeal after defender Jarell Quansah was sent off following a VAR review for a studs-up tackle on Mexico’s Jesus Gallardo in the 54th minute on Sunday night in Mexico City, according to Yahoo Sports. The red card leaves Quansah suspended for England’s quarter-final against Norway on Saturday, although the report noted there are no formal grounds for an appeal under the rulebook.

The situation follows FIFA’s decision to suspend Folarin Balogun’s one-game ban on Sunday, allowing the United States striker to play Belgium on Monday after FIFA invoked Article 27 of its disciplinary code; US president Donald Trump said Monday he called FIFA president Gianni Infantino about the case. England coach Thomas Tuchel said Quansah did not deserve to be sent off and criticized the handling of Balogun’s case, while England also have not provided an update on Jordan Henderson after he injured his arm/wrist falling over an advertising board during post-match celebrations at the Azteca Stadium.
