Speculators reduced net short positions in multiple U.S. Treasury futures contracts in the week ended June 30, while increasing net shorts in five-year Treasury futures.
According to Jin10, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) said speculators cut net short positions in CME U.S. ultra-long Treasury futures by 31,431 contracts to 286,669. Net short positions in 10-year Treasury futures fell by 26,375 contracts to 808,891, and net shorts in 2-year Treasury futures declined by 31,265 contracts to 1,287,581.
The CFTC also reported that net short positions in U.S. Treasury futures decreased by 85,263 contracts to 90,780. In contrast, net short positions in 5-year Treasury futures increased by 19,241 contracts to 1,320,510.
