John Stones said England have “huge respect” for Norway and Erling Haaland as Thomas Tuchel’s side look ahead to their World Cup quarter-final clash on Saturday, according to Yahoo Sports. England set up the meeting with Norway in Miami after a 3-2 win over Mexico at the Estadio Azteca on Sunday night, while Haaland scored a late brace as Norway stunned Brazil in New Jersey earlier on Sunday in the last 16.
Stones was a second-half substitute against Mexico as England switched to a back five after Jarell Quansah was sent off, with Quansah set to serve a one-game suspension. Stones, who said he feels in the “best condition” despite an injury-hit season, could be in contention to start against Norway, with Reece James also dealing with injury troubles.
