An ENS DAO core contributor, AvsA, has posted a draft forum proposal to reform the DAO’s governance by delegating, rather than distributing, 5 million ENS tokens.
According to Foresight News, the draft would move 5 million ENS from the DAO treasury into a multi-delegation contract and allocate 1 million ENS in voting power to each of five stakeholder groups: users, integrators, developers, traditional domain name system participants, and the governance community.
Under the proposal, each group would select up to 10 candidates based on defined metrics. Delegates would not receive financial rights to the tokens and would only obtain voting power. If a delegate does not participate in voting for more than six months, the voting power would be reassigned.
The draft cites a governance crisis at ENS, stating that a single delegate currently holds enough voting power to pass any proposal independently, while total delegated voting volume has continued to decline and recent proposals have seen notably insufficient participation.
The proposal is currently in a feedback-gathering stage and has not entered the formal voting process.
