TrendForce said high-end MLCC demand tied to AI is lifting order-to-bill ratios for major Japanese and South Korean suppliers, raising the risk of shortages in the second half of 2026.

According to Jin10, TrendForce’s latest MLCC industry research said accelerated AI server upgrades and continued volume growth of cloud service providers’ self-developed ASIC chips were driving the trend.

TrendForce said that in late June 2026, Murata, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Taiyo Yuden posted record BB ratios of 1.30, 1.31, and 1.25, respectively. It added that the overall MLCC market BB ratio also rose to 1.04.

Looking at market conditions in the second half of 2026, TrendForce said new AI chip platforms from NVIDIA, Google, and AMD were expected to enter mass production one after another in the third quarter, with capacity increasingly occupied by AI-related orders. It said that combined with demand from advance stocking, the probability of longer lead times and rising prices for high-end MLCCs was increasing.

TrendForce said the fourth quarter was expected to be a key period for observing whether the high-end MLCC market would formally shift toward shortages.
