Polymarket Trader RJW1 Buys $178,000 on Spain to Beat Portugal in 2026 World Cup Match

A Polymarket user identified as RJW1 bought $178,000 worth of shares backing Spain to win in the prediction event for the 2026 World Cup round-of-16 match between Spain and Portugal.

According to Odaily, RJW1, described as an account with more than $1.5 million in total profit, opened the Spain position at an average price of 51 cents and purchased 349,998.2 shares; the market refers to the match result within the 90 minutes of regular time, including stoppage time.

Odaily also reported that the same user holds an $800,000 position predicting France will win the World Cup, opened at 16.4 cents for 2,465,265.0 shares, with an unrealized profit of $400,000.

The Spain vs. Portugal knockout match is scheduled for 03:00 (UTC+8) on July 7.

Odaily said Spain is ranked around No. 2 in the world and won its previous knockout match 3-0 against Austria. The report described Spain as a younger team with a possession-based style, naming Lamine Yamal and Mikel Oyarzabal among key players.

Portugal is ranked around No. 5 and is led by Cristiano Ronaldo, Odaily reported. Portugal advanced after a 2-1 comeback win over Croatia in its previous knockout match, with the report citing experience, counterattacks, and individual star performances, and noting Bruno Fernandes as an important midfield organizer.

Odaily added that the teams’ most recent major meeting was the 2025 UEFA Nations League final, which Portugal won on penalties.
