An economist at global recruitment portal Indeed said risks in Australia’s labor market were not sufficient to prevent another interest rate increase.
According to Jin10, Indeed economist Callam Pickering said the number of job advertisements in Australia had been relatively stable over the past year, but hiring demand could slow for the rest of this year as the economy continued to face challenges.
Pickering added that while the labor market could not be considered strong, it was also not “completely terrible.” He said that as early signs of strain emerged, the labor market had become an increasingly important factor for the Reserve Bank of Australia in recent months.
However, he said these signs of strain were still not enough to stop the RBA from raising rates again.
