Iran has declared a period of national mourning for the late Supreme Leader Khamenei, while the country’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has not appeared publicly and has not attended his father’s funeral rites.

According to Jin10, The Hill reported that Mojtaba Khamenei had not attended the funeral ceremony for his father, and that the elder Khamenei is to be buried on July 9.

The report said Iran’s current ruler, Mojtaba Khamenei, was injured in the first round of strikes and has not made any public appearance since taking power in March. During the conflict, he has rarely issued public statements, which has raised questions about his health.

The New York Times reported on Saturday that it was unclear whether the supreme leader planned to attend any events commemorating his father.
