Beijing released the Beijing Digital Economy Development Report (2025–2026), which said the city’s digital economy value added exceeded 2.4 trillion yuan in 2025 and that its AI core industry was about 63 billion yuan.
According to Jin10, the report was unveiled at the results release event of the 2026 Global Digital Economy Conference, and it was presented by Lu Ya, vice president of the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences.
The report said Beijing’s digital economy value added rose 8.7% year on year in 2025 and accounted for 46.4% of GDP. It also said Beijing ranked second in the Global Digital Economy Benchmark City Index evaluation, with a development index value of 0.770, and remained among the “global leading cities.”
Lu said Beijing’s position as an “AI first city” continued to strengthen. The report said the city’s AI core industry scale was about 63 billion yuan in 2025, with more than 2,500 related companies clustered in the city. It added that, as of April 2026, 225 large models had been filed.
The report said innovation in large models and industry applications accelerated in both directions, speeding up empowerment of industrial upgrading, scientific and technological innovation, and public services.
It also said reforms to marketize data elements advanced further, with breakthroughs in building “one zone and three centers.” The report said on-venue transaction volume at the Beijing International Big Data Exchange rose 150% year on year, and that trusted data spaces expanded circulation in key areas including healthcare and audiovisual sectors.
