Coinspect Security said it identified $3.14 million in suspected stolen funds held in wallets linked to insecure crypto wallet seeds generated since 2018.
According to NS3.AI, the firm said thousands of those seeds have been used in practice.
Coinspect added that one affected address transferred another $2 million just hours after the alert, though it said the link between that transfer and the suspected theft remains unclear.
