Bio Protocol has launched OpenLabs, a decentralized science (DeSci) product positioned as a coordination layer linking scientific ideas with funding and execution, enabling humans and AI agents to collaborate on research in one platform. According to Foresight News, researchers can post hypotheses or discussion threads that may be upgraded into formal projects after community voting.
Once a project is created, it includes collaboration spaces, bounty tasks, and AI agent support. Bio Protocol said mature projects can seek funding through the Bio Protocol launchpad.
OpenLabs uses a USDC yield-based funding mechanism. Users can stake USDC and choose which projects to support, with funds deposited into audited yield vaults such as Morpho and Aave. The principal is intended to remain unaffected, while only the yield is directed to projects to cover costs including AI agent inference and tool-calling compute expenses.
OpenLabs is now live, and an initial batch of projects is already displayed on the platform.
